Network/System Engineer

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work in a Team Environment at any level of the company and with
    vendors
  • Analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of
    network infrastructure and application components
  • Perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training
    tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and user
    satisfaction
  • Provide direction, information and recommendations regarding network
    configurations and installations
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its
    workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, etc.)
  • Configure and setup Firewalls, VPN connections for access to vital surveillance
    applications
  • Design, setup and configure complex switching environments
  • Design, setup and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or
    secured access with the ability to support video surveillance applications
  • Design, setup and configure hardware platforms for virtualization
  • Maintain applications on Windows/Linux based systems utilized for various
    tasks
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking
  • Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes,
    DNS, WINS, Ether-channel (bonding), etc.
  • Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and
    maintaining network and surveillance systems
  • Maintaining multi-site network operations, software applications, operating
    systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities
  • Managing a high level of effectiveness & efficiency and consistently meet
    quality of assignments on time
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications to
    resolve operational issues and restore services
  • Knowledge of OSI Model
  • Experience with Spanning Tree Protocols MST, PVST, APID.
  • Experience with Redundancy Protocols like HSRP, GLBP
  • Experience with Load Balancing like F5
  • Any other duties assigned by management

Must Haves

  • Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required
  • Experience with Cisco Switches and Firewalls
  • Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and
    Firewalls
  • Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both
    written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a small business
    environment
  • Must hold a valid driver's license with no restrictions
    and possess reliable transportation
  • The ability to bend, squat, crawl or climb and lift up to 60 lbs. when
    required
  • Availability in response to needs of the customer for installation,
    maintenance and equipment malfunctions

Nice to Haves

  • Windows Server 2003 & 2008; and/or SQL experience a plus
  • Experience with Linux based environments & Cisco 2900 & 3500
    Series

Required or Desired Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or Current CCNA or
    CCDA certification
